Labor Day Hike

We went on the most incredible hike on Labor Day.  It was up to Kanarraville Falls in, yep you guess it, Kanarraville.  We had only heard about how fun and amazing this hike was from Daniel Cluff and Josh because the scouts hiked to the top of it and camped overnight once.  There are different stages of it and we just went to the first stage because we ran out of time.  We wanted to go see Disney's new movie PLANES!  It was so cute.  The first little bit of the hike was dry and hot and David was frustrated and already complaining.  But, right after the trees you can hear the stream and it's ALL stream after that.

You could go next to it.

Or over it or through it.  At first we all tried to step on the rocks and keep our shoes dry.

But then we quickly realized that the fun and easy way was to just walk right up through the middle of it.

As we hiked it seemed to be a nice little hike with some good places to take pictures

And then it turned into an incredible hike with AWESOME places to take pictures as we turned a corner and found ourselves in a slot canyon that we'd never seen before.  It was so amazing!

It's times like these that I wish I had a better camera.  If I ever get one this is the first place I'm coming back to. My camera doesn't do it justice.

At the end there was a ladder that you had to climb up to continue on the hike.  I love the waterfall!

If you hiked a little further up stream you came to the natural slides.  It was pretty crowded because it was Labor Day but we still had fun.  There are 2 slide up top and 2 on the bottom.  We were the only ones going on the ones on the bottom.  It was great.
The kids had a ton of fun and were soaking wet.  Some places where a LOT deeper than others but it was perfect for a hike on a hot day.

Then we started out decent back down into the gorgeous slot canyon and back home.  It was one of the funnest hikes we've been on.

Then we went to the movie and then we went over to the Scotts for a BBQ!  We love the Scotts. We are so lucky to live in such an amazing neighborhood where all of our kids have kids their own age to play with.  We've never had that until now.  We feel very blessing for such wonderful friends.

I don't know if you can tell in this picture or not but Josh is on one side and Daniel is on the other and they are trying to hit the kids and get them out.  It was hilarious.

We also celebrated Chase's birthday.  Sarah made this awesome Angry Bird cake. He loved it.

After we all just sat around and enjoyed each others company.

I don't know what it is with Joel and these 2 but there is definitely some sort of bond.  The twins love him.  This is Brooke.
And this is Abby.  They were having a staring contest and she won every time.  He is going to make a great grandpa someday.  Not anytime soon, but ya know 10 years from now it'll be fun.
