David's last year of Flag Football!

Unfortunately, Washington City only does flag football until 6th grade.  They assume that everyone will just go into tackle.  Well, not my kids!  So, it was kind of sad to see this as Daivd's last year.  He's SOOOO good at it.  But basketball season is getting started and since Ben is on the 8th grade team, he won't be playing city league.  Which means, that frees up Joel to coach his team.  It will be fun.  David is super excited.   Meanwhile, here are some great pictures of David.  Pulling flags.
Giving High Five's to Tavien on the sideline.
 Running the ball.

 Making Touch Downs!

 Throwing the Ball!
They skunked the other team this day.  They won more than they didn't.  I think they ended up 7-3 for the season.

He had a great team, with all his good friends. Austin, Taiven, Logan, and Carter.  It was a perfect way to end Flag Football.

Homecoming, Saturday!

The Homecoming parade was great but we only got there at the end because the boys had Rugby practice.  So we had Tavien and Myka because they come to rugby with us.  This picture was take when there was a big break.  They all got a ton of candy.  They just look this way because it was 85 degrees!!!  And they were super tired from practice.
Right after this we took them home, Ben showered and then we dropped him off at the Becker's because the twins had their last football game.  Championships!  They asked if Ben could be their waterboy since I won't let him play.  They ended up winning and Ben had a great time.  Then we went to the tailgate and Football game.  DSU played Adams State and killed them!!  54-28!!  It was awesome!
It was so hot!!!  Everyone had their hats turned sideways to block the sun on their faces and held up their programs so they wouldn't get sunburned.  We only stayed until half time because we had to take David to his last Flag Football game.  That will be another blog.

Homecoming Week Cont...

On Friday we had the Midnight 5K at DSU.  It was fun, like always.  Except this year I didn't need to do the aid station.  This year Shayne and I stood in the intersections to make sure no one got hit by a car.  Everyone did great, even KYLE!  But Ben had a stomach ache and threw up a couple times.  He wanted to beat David but came it about 10 minutes behind everyone.  We all felt bad.

Of course, every single year, I get blurry pictures of them running by.  So lets start with Drew.  He ended up take 2nd place overall.  Spencer's kids are super fast runners!
Next was Ethan Gilmore, George, and Akalia.

Then Austin Emmanuelle who is a great friend of our who grew up with Shayne.  Josh and he always try to beat each other.
 Then Josh.
 Then my cute David.
Then Ben came by.  He told me that he didn't feel good and ask if he could throw up.  I said, "Do what you gotta do."
This blurry shot is President Williams.
Then Konnor and Joel came by.  It wasn't long after that they past Ben.
The Kyle and Evan came running by.  This was the first time since the race started 9 years ago that Kyle has been able to participate.  Because usually he's in charge of it.
Then Spencer, Seth and Jack came running by.  Spencer has a stress fracture in his foot and was running tenderly on it.
By the time the last person walked slowly past us we got down to the track to see the last of our group finish.  David was the first one to come past us.  He had a great time of 22:34.  he jumped up and hit the sign as he past.
 Then President Williams came in.
 And Konnor and Joel.
 Their time was 26:32.
Then Seth, Jack and Spence all came in, one after another.  The boys sprinted and Spence just jogged.
 Their time was around 27:45.
Then Evan and Kyle came in. Evan sprinted and Kyle pretended to fall at the end.  He told us that he was pretty stiff the next day because it's been so long since he's run.
He finished it under 30 minutes!
Then I got really worried about Ben.  So I sent Josh out to look for him.  He wasn't too far away but right after he got done he went into the bathroom and threw up again.
Poor Kid.  Besides Ben, we all had a great time.
