The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee

Dixie High School is currently doing The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee!  So of course we had to go to it. It was great!  Josh Scott had them call Joel up on stage to be a contestant.  He was the last of the three extra's to stay up there.  They actually had to give him an extra word to make him mess up to get him off stage.  It was hilarious!  I had seen the play before out at Tuacahn but he hadn't and had no idea what he was in for.  It was so great.  We brought Shayne Konnor and all of the boys.  We were told, of course, not to take pictures but I did anyway.  Cody Bear was his helper.  Cody Bear is my favorite character.
 His first word was COW.

He asked for the definition and they guy said, "it's a cow."  Then he asked for him to use it in a sentance and the guy said, "Just spell COW!"
Then they had a dance break.

Then he had his next word that had only been written once in the English language.  Smooglickin.  It was a type of soup or ale from the Sottish region.  He apparently got it right and so he sat down.
So then they had to call him right back up because they needed him to lose and get off stage.  Hahaha.  So they gave him the word. XEROPHTHALMIA.  He started to get it right and forgot to put the PH and was dinged.  So the Thug who was getting his service hours in gave him a juice box and they walked in him down to his seat and sang the goodbye song.  It was awesome!

This is such a fun play.  I'm so glad that we have such great friends like the Scotts.

DATE NIGHT! with Josh

Yep.  You guessed it.  Joel had to work.  I won tickets from from B 92.1, Mikey and the Mrs.  to go see the new Marvel movie at the Hurricane Coral Cliffs Cinema.  They have a VIP theater that has fulling reclining leather seats.  I mean I could have, and some people did, brought a blanket and took a nap.  Those things laid completely flat.  It was so nice.  Then we also got free popcorn and drinks and then ordered dinner and it was all brought to us.  It was FANCY!  If I had a lot of money, I would NEVER watch a movie anywhere else.  Before the movie started Mikey handed out prizes and I won a $50 gift certificate to a jewelry store here in town.  It probably won't buy anything but it will be fun looking!

It was a super fun date with my son before he leaves on his mission.  I hope we can do it again before he goes.

My feet were clear up by this guys head!  It was so nice.  There was even an intermission so we could use the bathroom and get refills!  THE BEST EVER!!!

Rugby Week 5

This week was freezing cold!  Ben only made 28 points total!  He has been so worried about putting on muscle that he has lost all of his fat to keep himself warm.  They had 4 games and the first games was against the Brumbies.  The Brumbies is the only team that we lost to.   We have played them twice and won one and lost one.  This game was brutal.  So much in fact that they kept Ben from scoring more than 1 try.  We had 2 Try's and they had 2 Try's and neither of us could kick if our lives depended on it. So we TIED!  Ben was heartbroked.  He also nearly had a rib broken because Honor stepped right on him.  Honor is a beast.  He is the Poly equivalent of Ben but because he's Poly people expect more from him so he is more aggressive.  It's a good thing that they are such good friends.

Their 2nd and 3rd games were against the Sunwolves.  The Sunwolves have a kid named Austin on their team that goes to Desert Hills and is Ben's age.  This is his first time ever playing and he does really well because he is a great football player.  He would be amazing if someone would tell him the rules!  It frustrates me because I know how bad he wants to get out there and just play but he breaks a million rules and they don't call it and then someone is going to get hurt.  What the real problem is that I know he will make the All-Star team with Ben, which will be great BUT... I don't want our team to get a million penalties when we go up to SLC to play real games, because he doesn't know how to play the game.  I want them to teach him so we can have an amazing team and have a chance at the state title this year.  Maybe Ben will have to teach him.  Anyway, we won the first game against them 36-7 and Ben only scored 1 Try and kicked 3 conversions.  In the second game we won 27-5 and Ben only scored 1 conversion and David scored 1.  Then we played the Kings, Sikeli's team!  We beat them 34-10.  Ben had 1 Try and 1 Conversion.   It is really because coach Jake wants the other kids to have a chance at playing.  So he takes Ben out after he scores.  This also lets the other kids try kicking.  No one else has ever made a conversion kick.  Well, maybe Carter, once.  Carter Faucett's older sibling played water polo with Josh.  His name was Garrett but everyone called him Fisher.  And Carter's dad and I have been friends for quite awhile so it's been fun having him on the team.  He's a really good kid.  He plays well with David.  That's hard to do.  So, the day ended with our team scoring 107 points and the other 4 teams scoring 32 combined points.  Ben made 28 and David had his regular 5.  GOOD JOB SHARKS!
I didn't get many picture's because my hands were FREEZING!  But I managed to get something.  They have 3 games this Thursday and then the ending tournament on Saturday.  It's sad to see it go by so fast.  But, soccer will start up for David and All-stars will continue for Ben.  It is always something.  We wish it was always RUGBY!
Our coach, Jake Ryder, with the big goofy grin on his face.  Ben, Austin and Sewa in the middle of the group.  Again, it's a good thing that they are all friends.  All from different schools, all good friends.

President's Day Fun!

So, we had planned on going hiking in Zion for President's Day but woke up to frigid temps and gusting winds and rain.  So we went bowling instead.
The Young fam came with us.  It was awesome.  Afterwards we went to Pizza Cafe and ate then went to the DSU basketball game.  It was fun.
Joel and Jordyn
 Ben and Josh

David and Shayne

 Konnor
Kevin.  He looked like he was going to biff it every time he threw the ball.
Notice Ben's perfect form but yet he still gets a gutter ball!  Hahaha!
He threw it to the right every time.
 At least he's smiling.
Hey, it's me!  Rare footage of the Mom actually doing the activity with the family.  David took the picture.
Jordyn, Josh, Kevin,
Konnor, Shayne, David, Ben and Joel.  That's a fun bunch!
