Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida was the subject to a mass shooting on Valentine's Day. This school is in Sophie's district and the Elder's live just down the street from this school. 14 people were killed one of which was the RS president's daughter Alaina Petty. Another ward member, Maddy Wilford was shot more than once and was in the hospital having multiple surgeries from which she will recover from. It was a travesty and the community will have a hard time recovery from it. Below is some of the conversations that I had with our Fort Lauderdale Family.
This hit us all very close to home. Our missionaries more than even us. Our dear Elders were very good friends to this dear family and even went to this house to Skype their parents at Christmas. It has been very hard for them but it has also been a very big testimony builder and we must all remember to have an eternal perspective even though it may be hard to do so. "Thy will be done."
If you even find yourself needing guidance of any kind, the Lord has put his church together as such so you have many people that you can go to for help. Please seek them out and talk to them about whatever you need albeit big or small.
