This week was freezing cold! Ben only made 28 points total! He has been so worried about putting on muscle that he has lost all of his fat to keep himself warm. They had 4 games and the first games was against the Brumbies. The Brumbies is the only team that we lost to. We have played them twice and won one and lost one. This game was brutal. So much in fact that they kept Ben from scoring more than 1 try. We had 2 Try's and they had 2 Try's and neither of us could kick if our lives depended on it. So we TIED! Ben was heartbroked. He also nearly had a rib broken because Honor stepped right on him. Honor is a beast. He is the Poly equivalent of Ben but because he's Poly people expect more from him so he is more aggressive. It's a good thing that they are such good friends.
Their 2nd and 3rd games were against the Sunwolves. The Sunwolves have a kid named Austin on their team that goes to Desert Hills and is Ben's age. This is his first time ever playing and he does really well because he is a great football player. He would be amazing if someone would tell him the rules! It frustrates me because I know how bad he wants to get out there and just play but he breaks a million rules and they don't call it and then someone is going to get hurt. What the real problem is that I know he will make the All-Star team with Ben, which will be great BUT... I don't want our team to get a million penalties when we go up to SLC to play real games, because he doesn't know how to play the game. I want them to teach him so we can have an amazing team and have a chance at the state title this year. Maybe Ben will have to teach him. Anyway, we won the first game against them 36-7 and Ben only scored 1 Try and kicked 3 conversions. In the second game we won 27-5 and Ben only scored 1 conversion and David scored 1. Then we played the Kings, Sikeli's team! We beat them 34-10. Ben had 1 Try and 1 Conversion. It is really because coach Jake wants the other kids to have a chance at playing. So he takes Ben out after he scores. This also lets the other kids try kicking. No one else has ever made a conversion kick. Well, maybe Carter, once. Carter Faucett's older sibling played water polo with Josh. His name was Garrett but everyone called him Fisher. And Carter's dad and I have been friends for quite awhile so it's been fun having him on the team. He's a really good kid. He plays well with David. That's hard to do. So, the day ended with our team scoring 107 points and the other 4 teams scoring 32 combined points. Ben made 28 and David had his regular 5. GOOD JOB SHARKS!
I didn't get many picture's because my hands were FREEZING! But I managed to get something. They have 3 games this Thursday and then the ending tournament on Saturday. It's sad to see it go by so fast. But, soccer will start up for David and All-stars will continue for Ben. It is always something. We wish it was always RUGBY!
Our coach, Jake Ryder, with the big goofy grin on his face. Ben, Austin and Sewa in the middle of the group. Again, it's a good thing that they are all friends. All from different schools, all good friends.
