Australia came early

Last week the Rec Center had a AAA/Murdock Travel meeting on New Zealand and Australia!  We went to hear all about it.  The speaker was Australian with a good heavy accent and he brought a WALLABY with him!  It was awesome!  He had it in a little pouch and let the kid hold it.

He really like Josh.  He licked his hand for a couple minutes.

Cross Country

Josh has decided to be a runner!  He joined up with the PVHS Cross Country team during the summer and made some friends and is now running his little heart out.  Here he is at his very first ever High School Meet!  It was the Season Opener against Desert Hills.  We love Desert Hills.  Especially because the best girl on there team is our very own Laynee Jane Wells!!!  She kicks butt and is only a Sophomore!  Their team is lucky to have her.  It's fun to watch her run.  She's very graceful.  This race was a little different than the last one because it was a relay.  They mixed the kids all up so there were at least one slow kid on each team.  Josh was the fastest on his team.  He anchored his race.  He did a great job.  We are excited to see what other races they have together.

Shana, in the striped shirt, cheering on Laynee's last stretch of the race.

Layne won for the fastest girl in the last leg!  They started a new tradition where they put their name on this plate and pass it down every year.  She'll probably get it again her Jr. and Sr. years.  Great job guys!

SUU Cowboy Boxing 1991

I needed to put this on here just for myself.  So I have it for my family history.  This is a VHS version of my boxing match in college that I played on my TV and recorded with my phone.  My friend recorded this with his camcorder.  I was glad someone did.  It was a last minute decision on my part.  Well, I had about a week to get ready for it.  I practiced once.  I boxed this black girl names Kerri and everyone thought that she was going to kill me.  Well, my 1st place plaque and her taking home a whole lot of nothing said otherwise.  I had always just wanted to see what it was like to beat the crap out of someone.  I have to admit that when we were in high school my friends and I tried to pick fights with girls from other cities, that tried to cruise through our town looking for boys, just to see what would happen but nothing ever did.  So when this once in a life time opportunity came...I jumped on it.  Rumors started to fly the night it all happened.  Everyone was saying that I wasn't even going to show up.  So much so that my own brother and sister-in-law didn't even show up to watch it.  And even after I won people were saying that I had 2 black eyes.  Well, that was because I forgot to wear waterproof mascara and because the head gear was so hot I was sweating like a pig and it was running all over the place.  A lot of the girls I knew told me that I was kissing any chance I had with any guy goodbye because, "no guy would EVER go out with a girl who could beat them up".  That one I really was worried about.  I thought I might have just committed social suicide.  So the next day I wore the cutest dress I had and tried to say hi to as many people as possible.  I think it actually worked for the better.  I had a lot of guys come up and talk to me after that who wouldn't have before.  It was fun.  I think, in life, you should take the little opportunities that come your way.  Especially the fun ones that will never come back your way.  Why miss out?  Don't regret not trying something.  You may find a hidden talent.  But you'll never know if you don't at least try.

This second version of it was from the college TV crew.  I love the view.  The only problem it has is that since we were the last fight of the night  his battery was almost dead.  It kept jumping and it is really annoying.  But you can see the hits land from this position.  You can also see my friends Chris and Andre' who were in Kerri's corner.  I was kinda mad when I saw them coaching her.  I had some really nice cowboys, that I'd never met before, trying to give me some pointers.  It was fun.  Really fun.

1st Day of School!

The 20014-2015 School year has officially begun.  David is in third grade.  This is him doing number 3.

Ben's in 5th.  This is his version of a five and he loved Josh's backpack so much from last year that we had to buy him one for this year.
Josh started 9th grade!  A FRESHMAN!!!  He almost missed the bus so I didn't get a picture of him on the first day of school so the next morning I made him get his dirty clothes back on so I could take this picture.  He was wearing some bright red Van's too.
Sophie didn't need to be to school until noon and drove herself, so no fear of missing the bus.  She is showing off her eleven.  JR!  She is also showing off her SUPER cute Sophia the 1st backpack!

David got Mrs. Horrocks for his teacher and we are excited for her.  She has been at Washington Elementary forever.  She's a great teacher.  And Ben got Mr Ivie.  Josh had him for 5th grade too and loved him.  Both of my girls had Mr. Jolley and loved him.  As soon as we took Ben in an told Mr. Ivie that Ben is a baseball pitcher, a small grin started to spread across his face until his whole face was lit up.  Now it's all they can talk about.  He is a perfect teacher for Ben.  Mr. Ivie is in charge of making sire the flag goes up and down everyday.  So he picks a few special boys to do it.  Ben was first on his list and he told the other boys that Ben was head of the group.  Ben is loving it.  I think it'll bring out the leader in him.  I love Mr. Ivie.  He's great.  He pushes his kids and the love him for it.  Awesome!  It's going to be a good year.

Parents Night Out

It was our 2nd annual, weekend before school starts, trip to Mesquite, Buffet And Bowling!  We've been looking forward to this for awhile.  This year we brought baby Haggis (Olive) along for the ride.  We also tried a different buffet.  We went over to the Oasis this time instead of the Virgin River.  The only thing that was better was the fact that they had a table big enough for all of us and they had Pepsi products. Besides that I preferred Virgin River.  Afterwards we went over there anyway to go bowling.  I love it there because there is NEVER anyone there.  They have about 30 lanes and only 6 or 7 are ever being used.  We did the usual couples first, then girls vs guys.  I have been having some trouble with my elbow and  so even picking the bowling ball up with my right hand made me want to cry so I bowled left handed and still did pretty good.  I just kept thinking that Grandma Smith would be pretty proud of me but I'm sure could have given me some pointers.  So because of my handicap and Katie being pregnant and not bowling so hot the guys gave themselves a handicap too to make it a little more fair.  They had to throw the first ball left handed.  They still won but it was because they guttered the first ones and spared the seconds.  It was a lot of fun.  Thanks Daniel & Katie, Ray & Sarah and Josh & Jalee!  Let's do it again soon!
