Rugby 15's game #1

We had one week to practice 15's rugby and get these boys out of the toss and run mind set of 7's and into the tackle and ruck mindset of 15's.  It was hard!  We left Friday afternoon and spent the night at my parents.  We took Suene' and Wes Tauanuu with us so that they didn't have to pay $50 each to ride the bus.  They had a great time at my parents playing ping pong, basketball and Madden on the PS4.  The next day we got up to East High School just in time to watch the last half of the Varsity game of Snow Canyon vs East.  Snow Canyon killed them 27 -7.  Then Wes played on the JV team and they were down at the half but came back to win, 24-19.   We were up next.  Lance came to watch and so did Grandpa, Shayne and Tyler.  At first we saw the other team come out and thought we were going to smash them because they were so small.  But that team really knew how to tackle and ruck.  The two things we really needed help with.  So East dominated the first half.  Ben also came out of the first half because he got hit in the nose really hard and thought he had broken it but it didn't really bleed.  Just really hurt.  East ran the score up 15-0 before we could even blink.  But the 2nd half their kids started to peeter out and get hurt.  They ended up only having 13 player so we only put 13 in even though we could have put in 15.  They were not conditioned enough to stay up with us and in the end we caught back up and made a tying try with no time left.  So, Ben had to kick and make the conversion to win the game.  And...HE DID!!!  It was amazing!  The final score was 24-22.  I of course took 200 picture's so I'll try to just put the best ones on here.
 These are of Wes.

Here is our 7/8th grade team getting ready.
Drew and David getting the water ready.  Waterboys.
Ben taking the ball on the field for the kick off.

Here is were he went out to get checked for a broken nose.
He stayed out and talked to Suene' for awhile.
Then went back in mad.  He's like the hulk.  You don't like to play against him when he's mad.
 Here's his game winning kick.
These next are of his team mobbing him.  It was awesome!  The first and last person to hug him was Malachi Matavao.  We have known Malachi since Kindergarten and we love him.  This is the first year he has played.  Ben tried to talk him into it last year but he wanted to do football instead.  He's glad he's playing rugby now and so are we.
It was a great game and if that's how the season is going to start then we are going to only get better and there will be no stopping us!  This is going to be fun!
