Football

Well, last week Ben only got in for 2 plays and and tackled a guy from the other team and then a stupid kid from our team tackled  late and his helmet rammed right into Ben's arm above the wrist so he couldn't go in again and we had to take him to the ER to get an X-ray after the game. This first picture is him talking to Dom who didn't play because he was hurt and the other one was later in the game of him looking down holding his arm.

We won, but it was a close game.
See the bone in his wrist/  Now look 2 inches lower.  See the next lump that looks like another bone that isn't supposed to be there?  Yep.  That's where it hurts and where he can't move it.  he can't squeeze that hand as hard and cannot twist that hand.
I spent years doing x-rays and we ALWAYS did 3 views on wrists.  She only did 2.
We got to the ER at 9:30pm and by 1am the Dr. finally came in for 3 minutes and talked to us.  He never even touched Ben.  He said that the x-ray tech said that there was nothing broken and to take 400mg of Ibuprofen.  He never looked at the x-ray.  The x-ray tech never looked at Ben.  So how did the x-ray tech even know where to look to see what was broken?  Unless there was an extreme break you wouldn't even know what you were looking for!  I am positive that there is a fracture in there.  A buckle fracture or something.  That's just ridiculous!  We even had one nurse come in and tell him to get in a gown so he can get x-rays taken.  After he did, I told the nurse that I am sure that they could be taken with his shirt on since it was just his arm.  The nurse assumed that because it was a football injury that it was his shoulder.  So, they told him to put his shirt back on.  Changing was painful.  Thanks, wonderfully attention deficient ER.  I was so mad by the time we left that I could spit fire!  Not only did they do absolutely nothing except make us pay $250 up front, but they wasted our time.  We went home and found a brace and made him put it on and ice it.  Oh yeah, and gave him some IBUPROFEN!

In this weeks game he stood on the sidelines.  I always like to get a picture of him talking to Nate.  Nate is barely 5 feet tall and is our neighbor.  His dad played semi-pro football and is HUGE!  But, his dad was little when he was that age too.   Slow to grow.  So it will be fun to watch Nate sprout.  He is a great athlete.  He has been on Ben's basketball team too.  You should see him jump!
I don't know if he will play this week.  I feel like this will be a big set back for him like it was in baseball.  In baseball he was pitching and the batter hit him once and never played again.  So...? I hope he doesn't use this as an excuse.  He is super talented but not super mentally strong.  I do not know how to help that without sounding mean.  SUCK IT UP!!!  POUR SOME DIRT ON IT!

In other news this week...Our dear friends had fun things happen.  Brianna Esplin got married!
 She looked gorgeous!
The three stooges were having fun!
 Brianna waving goodbye!
 Good Looking Men!
The Lundquists!  They asked how my missionaries were doing!
Then our Poly side of the family had a very important weekend!  Suene got the Melchizedek Priesthood on Saturday!  It was awesome!  Vince's mom came form California and all his sister's came from SLC and CA.  It was great.  THEN, on Sunday, Wesley got ordained to a PRIEST!  back to back ordinations!  It was a lot of fun.  We were hoping to have a missionary call to open in there somewhere but it didn't happen.  This next weekend I guess.  The church changed how they send out ALL mission calls now.  They are all sent via EMAIL so Suene's call has been ready for a month now and because of the change he hasn't gotten it.  So, now we are just waiting to get notice that it is in his mission portal!!!  EXCITING!  These first pictures are of Suene getting Tavita to give his grandma a hug.  Which he did.   She was glad to know that she had another grandson.
 She is adorable!
Ben was sad that he missed out but he went to Lake Powell with the Beckers.  His first time!  He just wanted to make sure he was there for Suene's mission call and farewell.  We told him that he was fine to go.
