On Monday we laid to rest my Mom's Aunt Millie. Aunt Millie moved in with my parents a couple years ago from North Carolina after her brother died. My mom took care of her until she needed full-time help then my mom moved her into the closest nursing home there was. Millie was in the military when she was younger so she was buried in the Camp Williams Veterans Memorial Cemetery. It was a beautiful graveside service. It started with a 21 gun salute and a serviceman playing "Taps". It was gorgeous. They presented my Aunt Joanne with the flag that was on the casket and also gave her the bullet casings from the salute. Then Paula gave the opening prayer, my Mom gave her life history and Andy played and sang "Be Still My Soul". Charles then said a few words because he was also the presiding bishop and my Uncle Raymond said the closing prayer. At the Funeral home my Dad gave the family prayer. It was all very lovely. I'm sure she would have loved it. She is now back with her wonderful husband and all of her family.
thanks for this post- it was such a beautiful ceremony - all those feelings of peace and honor to be an American and humility for the people that serve our country, came rushing back.

I'm glad you got to go up for that and it all went well.
