So, it's that time of year again. And you can imagine how incredibly excited I was when Joel had his new church calling plus a new job and Zero time to train for a marathon. So I tried to talk him and Konnor out of actually running it. Neither one of them had been training. Konnor had been doing nothing but working his butt off. They needed to take a year off. But, Joel didn't want to even think about it. Well, I didn't have a teenager to drive Ben and David home from Pine Valley and Joel told me that Brian and John's families were NOT coming up to the Wells cabin so we decided to stay home and Shayne stayed up to sleep over and take the boys to the starting line. It worked out nicely because Brad needed help painting his floats he was doing for a project so JoEllen and I went and helped him with that instead. The next day I found out that the other families did end up going and Ben and David just stayed home and played Fortnite. Of course the runners had their traditional night at the cabin with laying out what they were going to wear with all of their goodies to go along with it. They also had someone's friend stay there for the race. I don't know anything else about him. Except I think he lives out by Shayne. Then the next day we figured out that Joel and Konnor would walk in sometime around 1pm. So we didn't hurry by any means. Then at 11:30 we decided to go down and got there right after Joel finished! He did better than even he thought! By an hour! He said that because of the rain and cooler weather he was able to push himself to go faster. He even had a faster second half. A NEGATIVE SPLIT! We still waited for about an hour for Konnor to finish. He was doing his own race, helping others and enjoying his time. Afterwards, I gave them both an IV. ;)
Then we ram into our old friend Creed! His brother ran it. And of course he was supporting him and playing with his nieces and nephews.
It was chilly but you saw runners like this, everywhere!
Here they are with our make shift IV pole's hanging from the curtain rod. Oh well, it worked.
