Cedar City Temple Open House

On Tuesday, 11-7-17, we were able to go to the Cedar City Open House with our boys.  It was a lot of fun.  It was neat to watch them ask questions and look at every little thing.  David of course was impressed with the waiting room.  He and I have seen a lot of them and we rate them on a 1 - 10 scale.  This one was small but a good one, although the couch doesn't face the TV.  So, we gave it a 7.  The temple is small but gorgeous.  The decor not only embraces the locally inspired color palette, but also many other images synonymous with southern Utah. Juniper berries, Columbine flowers and feathers in honor of the indigenous people are repeatedly found in intricate rugs, light fixtures and stained glass artwork above the rich mahogany doors or in the welcoming room of the recommend desk. They serve as a constant reminders that this temple has found a home here in southern Utah.  Here are the picture's that the church came out with.

Entrance.  The waiting room is just off to the left.

One of the two endowment rooms.
The other one.  They are super small and only have around 65 chairs.  Ours has double that.

This is the entrance to the baptistry.  They say that this stain glass window and the one in the entrance are from a set of 4 that were bought from a Baptist church that was going to be demolished.  The other 2 windows are in the Provo City Center temple and the Star Valley WY temple.

The other one looks similar to this one but a little different.  I couldn't find a picture of it online.

Here is the baptismal font.

The Celestial Room.  You can't see it but there is a lot of burnt orange in here.  It's gorgeous with the blue.

This is the Bride's room.  It is simply amazing.  It's small but elegant.  On the opposite wall is a huge picture of Esther as a bride.  Shayne said that Sophie needs to get married in this temple just for that reason alone.   I agree.

This is the main sealing room.  It is beautiful.

This is a Columbine flower on the end of a door handle.  The details are amazing.

More details.

The dedication will be on the 10th of December and this will be the 17th temple in Utah.
Now here are my picture's.  Starting with us on the shuttle.  It reminded us of our tour of the MTC.
Us headed back to our van, all alone on the shuttle.
We went again on Friday night so Konnor could see it.  Gorgeous huh?
As you can tell I took picture's of all the Sister Missionaries so I could post them on Facebook for their mom's.
It was wonderful to visit it.  I doubt I'll ever get to do a session in it.  It will be super busy from day one because it's so small.  But that's ok.  It will lighten a little of the load in the St. George temple.
