Camp Helaman

Josh's last camp Helaman as a youth.  Next time he'll be back from his mission and will have to be called as a leader if hew wants to go.  They love this camp.  It's a great Mission Prep tool.  It is for priest age boys only.  They are divided up into Elders and given companions and put into Districts.  They get up early and do companion scripture study and have a great weekend devoted to Preach My Gospel and how they can do just that.  Joel went up the entire time so I was home, completely alone, Thursday and all day Friday!  It was great!  Thursday I did nothing.  Got some food and watched movies on the couch all night.  Friday I started packing and cleaning Josh's room.  He's got a bunch of stuff and it needed to be started.  Time was running out.

So when they first got up to the Turek's property they did a service project and helped bring the dead trees in that had fallen and chop them all up.
The adults used chainsaws and the boys used axes.  That's Riley trying to split a log.
 Here's Josh giving orders.  STUD!
Later that day they played some fun games and practiced their roping and archery skills.
 Notice Josh's awesome warrior stance.
Then they did some javelin throw's with homemade javelins.
Josh wasn't as impressive with a Javelin.  No so much warrior there.
Here is their wood pile after they were done.  It was impressive.
The next morning they got up early to see the sunrise.
This was their district doing a study group.  Brother Whitney, from the 8th Ward, was their leader.  He wrote Josh a nice note about how impressed he was with him after it was all over and gave it to him at church.  It was really nice.
Apparently Joel was super impressed with the food because he took about 20 picture's of this.  It had all sorts of seafood in it.  Including the Southern Utah delicacy, Crawdad!  Nasty!
I just they also had a good morning run.  This was Joel's picture of, Josh and Riley?
Youth Conference is next week and Ben is the only one who will be attending.  I think he will like it that way.  Something all to himself.  He will be staying up North with Tyler after we drop Josh off at the MTC and then our ward will pick him up on the way to Bountiful where they are having youth conference and bring him home with them after it's over.  It has been one crazy summer.  This is the first time ever that I've said that I'll be glad when school starts again.
