Ben's B-day

The 10th was Ben's 6th birthday! He got a lot of fun little things from his siblings and a big teddy bear from us. But his favorite thing was that we took George, Emily, Evan, Taye and Kai to PIRATE ISLAND PIZZA! It's kind of like a Chuck-e-cheese I guess. It is a pirate themed restaurant with games you can do for tickets and then you can get some little dollar prize for the $20 you spent on tokens. Anyway, he loved it. We ordered a "Cracken" pizza. It was HUGE! Here are some pictures of the kids trying to eat it. Brad was in town this week so we took him with us. It was a lot of fun but one of those things that you can only do once a year because of the price. Happy Birthday Ben!

State Swim Championships

Joel and I went up to chaperon the 4A kids for State and they were awesome! We had so much fun. It was more like a mini Vacation for us. The manager of the hotel we stayed in was a friend of ours and he upgraded us to a King suite. It was Sweet. We'd do it again next year if they'll let us.

Shayne did great. At Region she took 1st in her 500m Freestyle and 1st in her 200m IM. At state she took 5th in the 200 IM and 7th in the 100 Free. It was so much fun to watch. Her relays didn't do much but they were awesome to watch. In the 200m Freestyle relay they were in last place in their heat when Shayne jumped in as anchor. She past 4 girls and touched the wall in 4th place. She swam a 26 second 50m! It was so cool to watch. They ended up 12th I think but it was so much fun. All of the swimmers from Hurricane, Desert Hills and Pine View High School should be proud of themselves. The altitude made quite a difference but they worked so hard and did their best! Way to go guys! This is a picture of all of the kids with us for dinner at Brick Oven in Provo.

PROM!

Here is the winning hair do:

The flowers were made by her Aunt Kellie. Thank you Kellie, they were so pretty.
Here are more pictures of the night:

Notice Shayne's toes. They are black and maroon for Swimming State that is this weekend.

Austin's tux matched perfectly. He has good taste.

This is Austin's grandfathers car. It was amazing. They turned heads!
I survived my first prom as a Mom. (haha that rhymed!)

itunes?

I don't get it! Shayne won an ipod nano at a swim meet and since she already had one I saved it and gave it to myself for Christmas. I also got a $25 gift card to itunes from the Tuacahn Christmas party. So I was really excited to download some 80's dance music and dance until I passed out. But I cannot figure it out. I even had one of Shayne's friends come over and get us started but now I'm trying to download the Best of Depeche Mode and it is taking forever. It also said that it would automatically charge my credit card before it downloads. Well I never put a credit card on there because I wanted to use my gift card. So I have no idea what is happening! I even bought the booklet ipod & itunes for Dummies and it didn't help. I'm a little scared and a lot confused. Help!

Prom Do?

What do you think Shayne's hair should look like for Prom. Here are your choices:

#1 Rosettes
#2 Knotty
#3 Braided Headband
#4 Sectioned & Twisted
#5 Twisted headband with messy bun
#6 French Twist
#7 Upside Down French Braid

Remember that these are just trial runs and the real thing will look much better. We'll also throw a couple flowers or some bling of some kind to make it look fancy. Let us know what you think.

My 1st Prom

Shayne was asked to Prom and it feels like my first Prom all over again. I was really excited when I got the phone call from Austin Ipson asking if he could come decorate her room. I had visions of the perfect Prom dress, how the gym would be decorated, etc... Then I realized that I was the MOM of that girl now and the excitement turned to horror and depression. Austin filled her room with balloons and was so cute about it and really excited. Shayne was all smiles when she saw it. Oh the good old days. I wish I could whip her up a dress on my sewing machine like my Mom did for me. It was an awesome dress. Dark Emerald Green the color of my Mom and my birthstone. I wish I still had it. I think one of my sorority sisters in college borrowed it and didn't give it back. I have totally lost the talent of sewing. I have a mending machine, not a sewing machine. I would like to use the excuse that I have 5 kids now but my Mom had 7 and almost everything we wore was made by her. The Prom is on the 30th so we have 2 weeks to get ready. I will post again after Prom to let you know how it goes. I hope I survive!

Starting the New Year off Right!

Happy New Year! St. George opened an Ice Skating Rink (The DIXIE IGLOO) the Monday after Christmas and that is the best way to start out the New Year. We all went the first time and I forgot my camera in the car. The second time the Utah Grizzlies where there and I got some pictures with them and the kids. We are going again on Monday so I'll take more pictures then. But I LOVE to ice skate. It is my all time favorite thing to do. I have been waiting for a rink to come to Southern Utah since I moved here 17 years ago. Now I finally like it here. The rink is only seasonal this year. Hopefully next year they will find a permanent location because ice skating indoors while it's 110 outdoors is heaven!

For New Years Eve we went to Kyle and JoEllen's and ate some junk food and played Rock Band. Then we all went to First Night. JoEllen and I had been planning a New Years Eve surprise. We had been practicing to be in the Zumba Flash Mob. Zumba is an excellent form of exercise. It's a lot of Latin and Hiphop Dancing. It is so much fun. And a Flash Mob is when a huge group of people all of the sudden do the same thing out of nowhere. So at 9:30pm the siren went off and we all started dancing like fools. It was a lot of fun. Then we watched the kids fireworks at 10pm and went back to JoEllens for some Rook and Chex Mix. It was a lot of food and a lot of fun! If 2010 is better that 2009 then we are in for a wild ride!
