Starting off the swim season right.

Shayne once again amazed me as she broke her own person record in the 100 Butterfly (1:07.15) and 100 Breaststroke (1:19.50) in her first High School meet of the year. She also had a personal best time of 28.4 seconds in her 50 butterfly in the medley relay and she went a 58.02 in the 400 yard freestyle relay but I'm not sure if that's a record for her or not. This will be a great year because as a Junior Shayne is the team captain and Joel and I are the team parents. We love all of the swimmers from Pine View, Desert Hills and Hurricane and know them all by name. They are truly amazing kids who support each other and are kind to everyone. Here are some pictures that Brianne Gentry, another swimmer, took for us. They are way better than my little camera can take. We so excited for this season and are grateful to be a part of it.

SPUDNUTS!!!!

It is a Halloween tradition that Jan make homemade spudnuts. Not doughnuts, Spudnuts. They have potatoes in them and are much lighter and fluffier. We have chocolate, glazed and cinnamon & sugar ones. They are DELICIOUS! We all ate too many and rang in the holidays the correct way, overeating.

Halloween!

Happy Halloween! This year I wasn't feeling to hot so we went with super simple. Joel and I taped smarties to our pants and went as a pair of smarty pants. Sophie was a bumble bee that we've had forever. Josh was a quarterback and for his Joel enlarged a quarter as big as his copy machine could go and we taped it to cardboard and slapped it on his back. Get it? Quarter Back. Ben was a ninja that we borrowed from JoEllen and David was a tiger that again we've had forever. Thank goodness!
JoEllen went all out and was Nanny McFee with a bird on her shoulder and a magic cane. Mason made her a snaggle tooth and Jan did the rest. Emily was a tiger and Mattie was the CUTEST panda bear ever! I made that costume 16 years ago for Shayne and every kid has worn it. Talk about getting your money's worth!
We went over to Jan and Andy's after trick or treating and the boys had fun dressing up Gus and Lily. It was another successful holiday.

Sadies goes 80's!

Every year Pine View High School does their Sadie Hawkins dance on Halloween and it is awesome! This year it was 80's themed and I had major flashbacks! Shayne's day date was a huge paint war at the high school and then they all went home to shower and get ready for the dance. The girls asked me to do their hair and it was fun going down memory lane. It was TOTALLY AWESOME!!

Jack-o-lantern's

Here we are doing our annual pumpkin carving. Joel always gets to do his, David's, Ben's and helps Josh and Sophie do there's. Mine is Jack the Pumpkin King. Joel's is the the one with the Dallas Cowboys Star on it. You can tell which one is Shayne's. Josh's has the glasses, Sophie is worried, (just like her) Ben's has one eye and David's is traditional. We have this great little ledge to put our pumpkins on but this year we had a big spiderweb in front of it. Once again they were master pieces!

It's that time of year again!

Time to go to the Staheli Farm! Every year each class at our Elementary gets to go to the Staheli Farm to learn about how a real working farm works and to have a ton of fun! Burke Staheli is our principal and his sister lives on and takes care of the farm. All of the Staheli's help out. His Dad was actually there when we were visiting. They have a huge corn maze and a haunted corn maze that I've heard is really scary. I have yet to go. Maybe next year. They also have a small maze for the little kids and tire swings, rope swings, a pumpkin patch, duck and pig races and so much more! The kids love it and every year I volunteer to help out. That way David gets to go too. He even snuck into Ben's class photo. haha

YW in Excellence

It's been a little while since I've blogged be cause I've been sick with a huge head cold. But I'm better and now I need to do some catching up. So here we go with our Young Women's in Excellence night. I am the Secretary in the YW. I calling I have LOVED! I am also beyond amazing when it comes to doing our history because I just print out my blog and turn it in and they think I've done all this work. hehe. Anyway, our theme was Daughter of a King and we all had crowns and talked about the Personal Progress Program and had a great night. The girls displayed the things they've done to pass off requirements for there personal Progress through the year. Sophie and Shayne both did Levi quilts too but I forgot to take a picture of them.
