SNOW!!!

YEAH!  SNOW!  WOO HOO! My all time favorite thing

in the whole entire world!  The Lord loves me.

  Look...There's snow on my SNOWGLOBE!!!

Once a year we get snow and this year it was before Christmas.  It was 10:30pm on the 18th.  We almost woke David up but he has been fighting a cough so we let him sleep.  He wasn't happy with us the next day when he found out.

These were no little flakes either.  These were big Utah Valley 50 cent piece flakes that were heavy packing snow that made great snowballs.  I wish it would have snowed all night.  1 inch was a blessing in and of itself and I am grateful I was able to see it.

SNOW!!!!!!!!

High School Swim Meets AGAIN?

Well, I was hoping for a break but I didn't get one.  Sophie decided to follow in Shayne's footprints and swim.  She's a freshman and has a totally different outlook on swimming than Shayne does.  Sophie is the cheerleader who doesn't care about herself.  She is there to cheer everyone else on, hurry and swim her event and get out of the water and run over to see who is swimming next.  Shayne was the leader, the serious, in the zone, do as you're told, lead by example, be a friend to everyone but have a tough love kind of swimmer.  She was ALWAYS at the end of a lane cheering on a swimmer but she was more of a screamer, "GO! GO! HARDER! FASTER!" not a "You can do it!" with a wink and a smile kind of cheer like Sophie does.  It's funny to watch.  I'm not quite sure who I prefer to watch.

If you look close you can see Shayne being the timer for Sophie's lane.

This is one of my all time favorite pictures.  This is the 2nd Generation Beckstrand, Sullivan, Ipson trifecta.  Such good kids from amazing families.  They'd better all keep each other in check and help each other out like their older brothers and sister.
Sophie and Leighton doing more cheering.

I think the thing I love most about this sport is that every single kid supports the other.  We have Hurricane, Desert Hills and Pine View High School kids all on this team and they cheer everyone on.  They don't fight and they set good examples for each other. These are my kind of kids.

Riverview Christmas Party

Here we were the next night at the Claim Jumper Steakhouse having our Christmas Party.  It was really fun.  We ate dinner, open gifts and George, our file boy (he's 85 years old) entertained us with some music.  Amy's husband Vince joined him for a couple songs too.  It was a lot of fun.  We had a great time.

12-12-12

Here is where I was and who I was with on 12-12-12 at 12:12 pm
Me, Kalo, Amy, Brandy and Lorry.  Dr. LaRowe was taking the picture.

Veteran Days Flags

Every year Burke Staheli puts 100 flags up in the park for our Veterans Day parade and program in the park.  His sons usually help him but this year Tyler is on his mission so Burke put out a plea for help on Facebook and got more than enough people to help him out.

It's a tradition that I hope we get to help out with for years to come.  Burke is an amazing person and example to me, my kids and this community.

COLOR ME RAD!

Joel and about 20 of the kids and staff from his school were running in the Color Me Rad 5 K.  It is a fun run where they give you a white shirt and sunglasses and throw dry paint at you as you run by.  Sophie and Shayne had talked about doing it but one of the high school swim meets fell on that date so they never signed up.  Well, a week before the race, the meet was changed and we found out they still could sign up.  That morning on the way to work I heard the radio station doing a contest giving away 2 entries.  So, I called up and WON!  It was a freezing cold Saturday morning when they ran and Ben and David complained the whole time.  But Joel, Shayne and Sophie had the time of their lives.

Shayne's trip to the Timp Temple

The Saturday after Thanksgiving Shayne received her endowments at the Timpanogos Temple.  All of my family members where there except Brad and Ashley who were stuck in California.  Kellie and Garrett and Katie and Dan Cluff were able to be there also.  It was a wonderful experience.  Shayne is wise beyond her years.  Anyone will tell you that.  We are blessed to have her in our family.
