We had fun decorating this year.  Our theme was "DEATH BY SPIDERS".

It's tradition to take these pictures and this year we had a couple extra people so we let them join in the fun.

For work the girls and I decided to go as Duck Dynasty.  It is a new reality TV show about a family of backwoodsmen who make duck calls and are millionaires because of it.  It's pretty funny.  So Kirsten went at Willie, the CEO and Megin was Phil, the Dad.  I was Jase, the brother, and Kalo was Uncle Silas.  It is Dr. LaRowe's favorite show and he loved our costumes.  He took the entire office out to eat for lunch because it was Devin Graff, Victoria's brother's, last day with us as an intern.  We ended up pulling our beards down to eat because it was impossible to eat with them on. 

 After lunch I left to go see Ben and David at the school in their Halloween parade.  Ben was a Zombie and David was a boxer.

 

Then we went home to get ready for the night.  Josh was Luke Skywalker with Yoda.

  

 Sophie was a cowgirl.

 

 And Joel was a golfer.  We had gotten the parts for the costume the weekend before at the D.I. so he could dress up for a golf tournament at work and he won "Best Dressed" and a gift certificate to Dick's Sporting Goods to get new clothes.

 

The first place we go every year is over to Jillyn's to celebrate her birthday.  She always has dinner waiting so the kids can eat good food before they eat candy.  Evan won the best costume this year.  He was a little old man and his best friend went as a little old lady.  It was darling.  Kyle even shaved the top of his hair off for the part.  It was a work of art.  George was a "Smarty Pants".   

 

 Emily was a Minion, Drew was Napoleon Dynamite, Seth was Pedro and Jack was Rex.  They were awesome!  Drew and Seth quoted parts of the movie for us and the Drew gave us a little dance.  For some strange reason Mason, Mandy, Spencer and Shana pooped out on us and didn't dress up.  It's always the Halloween surprise to see what Mason is going to do but this year he came as himself.

 


Then we had to hurry back to our annual Carnival and Trunk or Treat at the church.  It's not only mandatory now that Joel's bishop but now we have to set up and take down and make sure we're the first ones there and the last to leave.  My YW were in charge of 3 of the booths and had great costumes!


Sarah and Jen DeMille always have to coolest costumes.  This year they are evil statues from the TV show Dr. Who.  If you didn't know the show then you just thought that they were scary gargoyles.

The YM had the other 3 booths and some of them dressed up.

My favorite costumes were the families that dressed up.  Here are the Cluffs: Daniel was a crazy Jazz Fan and little Zack was an Octopus.  Katie was a bee and Kason was a ninja.

Tavien and Myka were super hero's.  Next were the Millers:  Chase was Mario,

Sarah was a mom with 5 kids, Riley was a princess, Logan was a ninja and the twins were foxes!



Ray went as PVHS's student body president, Logan Cox.  Apparently he fooled a lot of people at the school.  Even Principal Mees came into his classroom to watch him teach.  It was awesome. 

Nick was a football player at the ward party but wore one of Bethany's dresses and went as a girl to school.  I'm glad he changed.

                            
After the ward party we went to JoEllen's so the kids could trick or treat in their neighborhood.  It's nice and safe and we know everyone there.  Joel and I took David and Ben around to about 10 houses and called it good.  It was a super fun night. 

Flag Football!

This year Joel was Ben's football coach.  They had a great time together.  Ben, we quickly found out, was a great quarterback.

And Nick was a great receiver.  Together they were awesome!  Nick could catch anything thrown to him.

Tyson Dinsmore could pull any flag the got close to him and was our fastest runner.  If he could get free he was always GONE.

Ben made a couple touchdowns this year too.

 They all had a fun time.  It was an amazing group of boys. 

This year David and Taiven were the oldest ones on their team.  They were split away from Josh Jensen's team and put with a bunch of Kindergarteners.  It wasn't very fun for them.  If they both weren't at the games then they lost.  The two of them made the team.  David usually was the quarterback and Tavien the receiver.   

Aren't they ADORABLE!  You'd never know what little stinkers they really were.

 

At the beginning of the season sister Alldredge started doing practices and asked Daniel to help coach.  Daniel had no patients with the kids.

See?  I thought this picture was hilarious!  He was so fed up by the end of this game.  He wanted to pull all of his hair out.

So Eric Roberts started coaching them.
He has the patience of Job and Daniel was happy to pass it over to him.
 

David loved playing.  He loved to throw the ball, run the ball and...

Pull peoples flags!  He would intentionally let him pass him so he could run them down and pull their flag because it made him look cooler.  He and Tavien as speed demons!  They are lightning fast.  When he and Joel got to the very last game, that he ended up getting 10 minutes late to because of the Homecoming parade, the score was something like 32 to ZERO.  They gave David the ball and on his first play he scored.  When they got the ball back again he scored again.  I think they scored one more time and still lost but it was fun to see.

I'm not sure if we'll do this again next year but we'll see.  Rugby starts up in May and we might just stick to that.  Thanks Eric, Daniel and sister Alldredge for a great season!

DSU Homecoming 2013

 We love all of the events that revolve around DSU Homecoming.  Kyle is in charge of the Midnight 5K and everyone runs except me and JoEllen.  We did the first year and haven't since.  We are the helpers that direct traffic.  We are very important.  Everyone showed up...Mason and Mandy and kids, Spencer, Maycee, Drew and Seth all ran, Kristal and Emma, Kalo and Joel, Brian, John and 18 girls and staff from Red Rock.  We had a really good turn out. 

 

 Kalo was awesome.  Maybe I'll have to start training for next year.

The next morning, to early for any one us because none of got to bed before 2am, we all had to be back up and at it for the Homecoming p-raid.  Ben and Joel had their last flag football game from 9-10 and the parade started at 10am.  So, they hurried and drove over right after the game was done and got in line.  They were both supposed to be in the parade.  Joel in the motorcycle club and Ben with the DSU Swim Team with George and Emily.  Luckily they were right next to each other in the line up.  The first one come by was Josh in the PVMS Band.  This will be his first and last Homecoming parade.  He's decided that he doesn't like to play the trombone and can't read music as well as he thought.  He's just like Joel...he listens to what they are playing and then plays along.  Oh well.  He's done it for 3 years so if he wants to move on to other things then sobeit.

 Here is David going out to give him a high five.  David was in his football clothes because his last game started at 11 and as soon as the parade got over Joel came and picked him up on his bike and hurried him over to it.

Last but not least was PVHS and Sophie leading the way.  Front row middle to pace the rest of the band!

Mr. Candland showed up in full uniform because they needed another trombonist.  It was awesome!!!  And here is Leighton Ipson being a flag girl for the day to help out too. 

This parade is known as the candy parade because of all the candy the kids get right BEFORE Halloween.  Every year DSU hands out something to all of the parade watchers.  One year it was Flags, another it was pompoms and this year it was MEGAPHONES!  They kids loved them.  At one point Evan yelled at someone in the parade, "Hey I betcha can't throw any candy into my megaphone!"   Needless to say that he ended up with the most candy out of anyone.  It was hilarious.  Matty tried it too and David just held his out and people just put it in his.  It was so funny. 

 The University played Humboldt State that night and won!  It was a great end to an even greater day.
