One day Ben brought home this certificate. I had no idea that he had entered a Art Contest and he didn't really say much about it. The next day I got a call from the Elementary saying that his picture, along with the other winners from all of the other Elementary's, would be displayed at the Children's Museum and judged for the overall winner and that we could go over and look at it if we wanted to. WHAT?! All Ben had said was that he drew a picture of an Owl that looked like a deranged Pikachu. He didn't say anything about actually winning at his school and it going on to bigger and better things. It was really cool. I told him that we were going to go look at it and he told us not to. He didn't want anyone to see it. I said to bad and we got in the car. The entire way there he kept asking if we could turn around and go home. When we finally got there he said he'd wait in the car. He didn't but I was super surprised to see his work of art. It was really good.
Come to find out that it was part of the Annual Bird Festival and was a pretty big deal. So we went over to check it out and the cute little old lady in charge said that if she could have voted she would have chosen his because she liked it the best. He got a huge smile on his face. It was cute. She also gave him this certificate and a green ribbon for participating.
The lady told him that he would get his picture back in a couple days because they were going to post them on a web site, that I can't find, and when he did get it back it came with the cute little pin that I pinned on the top corner. I am so proud of him for actually entering. He did an awesome job!
