Josh had 2 games in Cedar this week. The first one was against Canyon View that we won 3-0 and Josh played all of the 2nd half. The 2nd game was against Cedar and we expected to cream them and when we didn't even come close, Josh didn't get any playing time at all. It's super frustrating. He and Gonzo just sit and enjoy each others company. At least Brandon got to play this time. So, I don't have any picture's of the game against Cedar. But I went up and talked to Gonzo after because I know that he's super discouraged. I said, "Good game. Just hang in there. Josh needs a buddy to warm the seats with." He replied, "I told coach that I wanted to quit and I still didn't get any playing time. It's just frustrating. But I don't want to leave Josh by himself." I told him to hang in there because he literally has nothing else to do and all his friends are doing it so he might as well hang out with his friends and he said that was true. He's a good kid. One of Cedars goals was made because Riley couldn't raise his arm up high enough to block it because he literally has a brace on his shoulder that doesn't allow it. So, why is he playing? He needs to rest it and get better for the finals. If he hurts it worse then we will really be in trouble. I also think that if we want to win then we need to play our Sr.'s that really want it. Not our Freshman and Sophomores who know that they have other years to play. Our Seniors only have this year and that is it. They want to get out there and take care of business! But I am not the coach. So we just focus on the friendships and the goal of setting good examples and helping these boys get on missions!!! Gonzo and Brandon want to wait until after summer to go on missions but if they put their papers in now they will leave after the summer. We just need to get them to see that and get going.
So they are having this little break because their goalie hit his head on the ground, hard and started having a seizure. So they called the ambulance to come get him and take him to the hospital, which is literally in the same parking lot, because apparently this kid has a heart condition and this happens more frequently then they'd like. If he was my kid, their is NO WAY that I'd let him be a goalie. If I'd even let him play soccer. He sounds more like a baseball kind of kid. So, their team wasn't as concerned as our players were. Our players knelt down and had a prayer for him and then Kelvin went over and invited their team to come over and join us for a prayer. The two yellow shirt are our goalie and theirs, arm in arm for a greater cause.
